Preserving teeth – Conservative Dentistry
Dental filling is a replacement of lost tooth structure for tooth decay or some outer layer fractures of the tooth. Earlier dentist used silver amalgam for filling, it’s a mixture of silver alloy particle and mercury which is avoided now due to some adverse effects and the potential environmental pollution due to the mercury in the filling.
Tooth Coloured Fillings (Composite resin Fillings)
For decay or fracture on front tooth , composite material is the ideal choice. We can match with the adjacent tooth colour, and select your tooth shade and restore the cavity or rebuild the lost tooth structure and get lifelike appearance of your teeth.
Moderate Cavity (GIC fillings)
In moderate size cavities microorganisms invaded the middle layer of the tooth – Dentin, reached near to pulp, hence the fillings are made to protect the pulp as well as promote healing. Glass ionomer cements are used in this situation. They are almost tooth colour restoration only.
Inlay and Onlays
When extensive tooth structure is lost in your back tooth and to with stand your chewing force inlays /onlays are required. Tooth is prepared and measurement is taken and the precise filling is fabricated in the laboratory. They can be made in composite, gold, semi precious alloys, ceramic, zirconia, depending upon the aesthetic and strength demand.
