Best Root Canal Treatment In Tirunelveli | PalayamKottai

Deep cavities, discoloured tooth, broken tooth, cavity with severe pain and swelling need root canal treatment, thus infected tooth can be saved by this RCT procedure.

What is a Root Canal Treatment?

In root canal treatment we remove and clean the infected portions of your tooth and save your natural tooth. The main purpose of root canal treatment is remove the infections present inside the tooth, relieve the pain and prevent any form of reinfection.

Tooth has 2 parts, Crown- the top portion above the Gum level, and Root-the supporting tooth structure below the gums. When the tooth decay reaches the the inner most layer of the tooth (pulp), it gets infected causing pain. The aim of the root canal treatment is to remove the infected pulp in crown and roots.

This is done with special small size flexible instrument (files) and cleaning and shaping of the root canals and sealing the canal with a filling material. All this procedure is done under local anesthesia, depending upon the extend of the infection this tooth saving procedure can be done in single sitting or multiple (2-3) sittings.

Painless Root Canal Treatment

After giving local anesthesia injection and once we confirm there is an adequate amount of numbness present in the surrounding areas of that tooth then only we start to clean that tooth.

At least during regular dental filling, you may feel a mild sensitivity, but in the root canal, thanks to local anesthesia you never feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

Very rarely do some people have a hot tooth, they may require additional local anesthesia injection. However in some individuals, Mild pain and discomfort are normal after the root canal procedure for some days.

Very rarely some individuals may feel mild discomfort, especially in lower back tooth RCT procedures. Otherwise, it is almost a pain-free chair side dental procedure only.

How Long Does A Root Canal-Treated Tooth Last?

The long-term success rate of root canal treatment is high and very much predictable. Outcomes of long-term studies confirmed that 98 percent of root canals last one year, 92 percent last five years, and 86 percent last ten years or longer.

Molars treated by endodontists had a 10-year survival rate, significantly higher than that of molars treated by general dentists. That’s why in Sakti Dental, we follow an Interdisciplinary approach, only root canal specialists (Endodontist) will do root canal procedures.

  • Pain on biting/ chewing

  • Abscess formation in Gums/Palate

Many people will get nervous when we mentioned the term root canal to save their tooth. To relieve the dental pain we are advising RCT, You will feel much better after the initial procedure itself.

So many factors are involved in the success of RCT.

Position of the tooth

The front tooth RCT success rate is much predictable than the back tooth. The reason is mostly it has only a single root and only one canal, but the back tooth the root morphology some times curved, some people have reduced mouth opening, some times extra roots may present that has a direct impact on the success of an RCT tooth.

Biting Force

The front tooth is mainly used for biting or cutting the food instead of grinding, so the amount of biting force is less. But the back tooth is used for grinding, if it’s not properly restored there may be a chance for fracture of that tooth because of the heavy occlusal force.

Age of the Patient

Younger individuals respond very well even though there is a severe infection. Older individual’s teeth are more brittle in nature and susceptible to fracture if they don’t place crowns following RCT.

Treatment timing

For long-standing infections, the prognosis of this RCT may be less compared to the early infection stage.
